What is your favorite thing to do? Go to the beach!
What is your favorite thing to talk about? I like to talk to people when they want to learn how to cook. I love cooking!
What is your book or favorite thing to read? Cookbooks.
What advice would you offer to other people with aphasia? Keep working, and don’t give up. It is hard work but worth it.
What is your biggest accomplishment in the last year? After the stroke, I could not walk or talk. I got a brace that helps with walking, and my talking is getting better and better.
What is your favorite class or activity at the Aphasia Community Center, Inc.? Reading Group and Pizza & Game Night.
What was your occupation? An Academic Dean and Director of Culinary School. Before that, I was an Executive Chef.
Do you have any pets? Forrest, a dachshund lab mix, see photo below.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Chocolate!
What is your favorite place? Florence, Italy. I have been there 16 times with culinary students.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us? Do not give up. And keep your family and friends close to you. They make a big part of who we are.
