“Coach” (Kerwin) Baker, a loving husband, father, grandfather, coach, athlete, and avid sports fan, died December 4th after a brief battle with cancer.
“Coach Bake,” as he was known to many, trained numerous students in basketball and football over the years. His coaching career spanned 50 years. Coach was able to help secure college athletic scholarships for over 200 student-athletes. Coach Bake promoted practice, patience, perseverance, and teamwork. He encouraged his athletes to do their best on and off the field.
Coach was an Aphasia Community Center (ACC) member and regularly attended our Reading and Writing groups. He was fully invested in our group session and provided helpful prompting to other members. He’d arrive early to help get things organized and help put closure on each session. We enjoyed his sense of humor.
We will miss Coach. Loss is the downside to friendship.
