The Stroke Wellness and Support Club at Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) has a special division devoted to promoting education, wellness, and the management of stroke and neurological diseases. They provide ongoing motivation, support, and personal time with a focus on you. Make participation part of your treatment plan.
Wanda Jackson, Certified Healthcare Access Manager and Outpatient Care Coordinator for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, facilitates the Stroke Wellness Club and Support group. This group is modeled after the National STROKE Association’s LEAP (Lifelong Education & Advocacy Program). It provides a systemic approach to post-stroke education.
Wanda knows how to connect you with resources! Her job is to help patients navigate the ever-growing outpatient services and to help them connect the dots from inpatient to outpatient. In addition to the Stroke Wellness Club, Wanda facilitates a Cooking Class for Stroke Survivors, Parkinson’s Wellness Clubs and Support Groups, a Mobility-Challenged Group, and as an Outpatient Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Navigator. More information about these groups can be found on the Aphasia Community Center Resources Tab.
